I’m so excited and thrilled to announce that my 5-star-rated book, Darkest Dawn, is the national WINNER of the Indie Excellence Book Awards (pregnancy and childbirth). If you know of anyone facing an unplanned pregnancy or just want to experience what it must be like to give up your first-born child, this short book (73 pages) is sure to keep you turning the pages. It’s inspirational, packed with powerful emotions and extreme risks that take you on a gripping ride sure to stir your heart and encourage your soul.
Did you know today is Birthmother’s Day? (It’s always the Saturday before Mother’s Day.)
Birthmother’s Day is not a holiday recognized by general society, perhaps only celebrated by birthmothers themselves. Many people aren’t aware of what goes through a woman’s mind and heart as she faces the hardest decision she’ll ever make. The 5-star rated story, Darkest Dawn (ISBN: 0966134214 / Publisher: Wizard of Words) by Bonny Brookes, beautifully portrays a birthmother’s selfless act. This book, filled with raw emotion, warms the heart as it encapsulates the truest form of unconditional love a woman can ever offer – giving up her own child for the child’s sake and the benefit of fulfilling a childless couple’s greatest desire.
Birthmother’s day was actually created in 1990 by a group of birthmothers around Seattle in an effort not only to educate, but more importantly, to honor and remember. Darkest Dawn teaches us all the reason to celebrate and recognize birthmothers on Saturday, May 10th.
Sunday was gorgeous in the 70s, but this morning, schools are cancelled because of an ice storm.
Last week I shared I was going to rearrange my downstairs…and so I did. I love the new arrangement. It’s more open and flows better and allows more natural light. Change is good!
A friend of mine is on a road trip, sending me photos of his adventures. Makes me itchy to go on one myself, so later this week, that’s what I’m doing! I love driving, admiring the beauty of the scenery and finding wildlife. I’m taking the camera, so if I get any decent shots, I’ll post them next week. Who knows, one of them may end up in the San Diego Fair, again. What do you think about my last accepted entry, “Puppy Love?” (Have I mentioned I love animals?)
This week has been an exciting one for my books. Both received favorable reviews . . . mostly 5-star reviews! The full reviews are posted on my website. Now the cover of Linked Lives is being updated to reflect the new status, Below is a sample photo of what it will be (in a few weeks).
The sun should be out soon, so I need to run! Thanks for reading, enjoy your week and make some happy memories. Until next time . . .
Hi and Welcome to my Blog.
First of all, thank you for coming to my blog. I’m glad your here and I look forward to getting to know you! I’d love for you to comment because that’ll open up a real ‘conversation.’ I’m open to most topics, though my passions are animals, traveling, music and photography. What are yours?
Since I love photography, I’ll share photos (probably a lot of animals and traveling) along with updates of what’s happening with me, both professionally (signings, tours, events, new releases, etc.) as well as personally. I am a writer who lives with my felines in Central Texas overlooking Lake Travis and the hill country. I’ve included a photo of my view, isn’t it gorgeous? The serenity has been instrumental in helping me to write and publish two books recently. I wrote them with the intention to leave the reader feeling better for having read the story and adding to their life in some way. If you’d like, you can find both books on my website.
I’m signing off now to go ‘rearrange’ my living room. I do it for the exercise of moving the piano and large wood entertainment center! 🙂 What do you do for exercise?
Until next time . . .
